Usain Bolt’s struggled to win his penultimate race before defending his 100 meters and 4×100 meters titles in London before admitting to having a stiff back. Before the race a glitzy tribute was paid to the King of sprints at the Golden Spike meeting in the Czech Republic. He posed, smiled, danced and was reverend during the singing of Jamaica’s national anthem. But his actual race did not live up to expectations. The 30-year-old recovered from a sluggish start to overhaul Cuban Yunier Pérez but never really blazed the track in a pedestrian 10.06 seconds. That was the first time Bolt has recorded back-to-back times over 10 seconds in the same season since turning professional, and a successful defense of his world 100m title in a month’s time now looks far from certain. However Bolt never displayed a hint of worry.“I never worry. I always tell you guys if my coach is not worried, I am not worried. I just need to go to my doctor and get everything checked out to make sure everything is smooth and continue training so when my next race in Monaco comes [in the Diamond League on 21 July], I’ll see where I am at,” he told reporters. Watch the race for yourself below.Bolt confirmed he would fly to Germany to see his doctor Hans-Wilhelm Müller-Wohlfahrt.“It’s just my back, as always,” he added. “My doctor told me over the years that the older I get the worse it is going to get so I just really have to try and keep it in check. I need to go see him to make sure everything is smooth because it is a bit tight. But I didn’t get injured and that’s the key thing. I am happy about that – it’s just about sorting it out and I should be fine.”Bolt, however, still looked track-rusty – a fact which he coach Glen Mills said was the result of him missing three weeks of training while grieving for his friend, British High Jumper Germaine Mason, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in Jamaica last month.

On Twitter, a tourist asked Deputy Chairman of Sandals Resorts, Adam Stewart, who has rallied for the reopening of Jamaica’s borders, about the protocols. He responded by saying, “No testing, no quarantine, only standard airport physical observations for symptoms and thermal temperature checks.” As the Jamaican government rolls out the protocol for the reopening of its borders, many Jamaicans are calling for a re-evaluation of the measures that will dictate re-entry. “Why are Jamaican nationals being subject to testing and quarantine when non-Jamaican tourists get to choose?”, is the question that many nationals still stuck overseas have posed. According to Jamaica’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Kamina Johnson-Smith, Jamaicans that want to come home will still have to apply for authorization by using the Jamcovid19.moh.gov.jm website or app. The Jamaican returnees coming from a country within a constituted “travel bubble” (yet to be outlined) may not be tested for COVID-19 but would be subject to health status screenings. They will also be subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine. Jamaicans returning from countries outside of the bubble will absolutely be tested. In the meantime, the government has said tourists will undergo VOLUNTARY testing. There is much much confusion surrounding the re-entry requirements for Jamaican nationals and those which have been dictated for non-Jamaican tourists, who will be allowed to visit beginning June 15. As Prime Minister Andrew Holness pushes for greater personal responsibility, he must also realize that not every visitor will understand that it is in the best interest of the Jamaican people to be tested for the virus. “We are still in a pandemic. We are intent on allowing more flights to bring J’cans home and therefore also moving to partial home quarantine. You still need Jamcovid Travel Authorization to be landed so your airline may cancel or refuse boarding if you dont have it”, a tweet from Johnson-Smith read. Thus given the choice, many will opt not to be tested and run the risk of spreading the virus among Jamaican citizens.

After guiding his side to a very impressive 4-0 thrashing of Cameroon, Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles Gernot Rohr has cautioned that more work need to be done for Nigeria to be in Russia for the 2018 World Cup.Nigeria moved up to 9points, 7 above second-placed Cameroon in Group B of the World Cup qualifiers, after goals from Odion Ighalo, Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Kelechi Iheanacho helped them to a convincing win against the African Champions.Speaking in a post-match press conference, the Franco-German tactician, however, hailed the performance of his team and the tactics he deployed.“Today (Friday), we saw a game that we wanted to play. We had a plan to win this game; against a very good team-Champions of Africa,” Rohr said.“They (Cameroon) wanted to win and we knew there was a possibility for us to play counter-attacks; what they do normally. They were coming with four players forward, and we had a very good defensive organization. That was the base of this victory.“The offensive animation was very intelligent. With our quick wingers, we gave them a lot of difficulties. The win gives Nigeria a huge advantage in their bid to qualify for a 6th World Cup, and Rohr says the 3-time African Champions need at least two more points to realize that dream.“We shouldn’t forget that it is not finished yet because we have only 9points, we need at least 11(points), I think.“So let’s take another one or three points, if possible, in three days.”Cameroon will host Nigeria in the reverse fixture in Yaounde on Monday, 4 September. The other two teams in Group B; Zambia and Algeria (who have a point apiece), clash on Saturday.Audio Playerhttps://www.busybuddiesng.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/Rohr-September-2.mp300:0000:0000:00Use Up/Down Arrow keys to increase or decrease volume.RelatedAUDIO: Selection Headache For Rohr As Fully Fit Eagles Train in UyoAugust 29, 2017In “National Team”INSIDE AFCON 2019: Rohr Calls Nigeria Underdogs Ahead of Cameroon Clash (AUDIO)July 5, 2019In “AFCON”INSIDE AFCON 2019: Rohr Cautions Players Against Individual Errors Ahead of Cameroon ClashJuly 5, 2019In “AFCON”
