first_imgJames Franklin sprints off field to tell player to “GO SHAKE HANDS!” after #24 Michigan State upsets #7 Penn State #MSUvsPSU— High&OutsideSports (@HighandOutside_) November 4, 2017Here’s what Franklin said after the game:“But make sure everybody’s clear, and don’t misinterpret this at the end of the game that I was running off the field, I would never do that. I saw a few of our players running off the field, not going to shake hands, and we’re going to win with class and we are going to lose with class, and we are going to shake people’s hands and give them credit because they deserved it.” AD Quality Auto 360p 720p 1080p Sponsored By Connatix Penn State lost to Michigan State on Saturday. There’s no sugarcoating it: it was a brutal loss in more ways than one.The Nittany Lions jumped out to a 14-7 lead before a thunderstorm forced a near 3 1/2-hour delay in the second quarter. After sitting through that, Penn State fell behind 21-14, fought back to grab a 24-21 lead and then surrendered that lead on a pair of field goals, the final one coming as time expired to clinch a 27-24 Spartans win.To add salt to the wound, Iowa’s 55-24 blowout of Ohio State allowed Penn State, a 39-38 loser at Ohio State last week, to momentarily regain a semblance of control in the Big Ten and College Football Playoff races. A win over Michigan State would have pulled the Lions even with the Buckeyes, meaning one more loss could put Penn State back in front of the Big Ten East and, thus, in the Playoff picture.Penn State had to win out to do that and, obviously, that didn’t happen. Some Lions players were upset after Matt Coughlin’s field goal went through and attempted to leave the Spartan Stadium field without shaking the Spartans’ hands. James Franklin wasn’t having it.last_img read more
